About Community Learning and Development

Community Learning and Development (CLD) is skilled and organised learning and socYouth Workial development work with individuals and groups in their communities. It can include a variety of specilaist approaches, with a particular focus on:

  • learning for adults.
  • learning for young people.
  • building community capacity.

Organisations in different sectors provide services that reach out into communities to achieve learning and change, and support people in community and voluntary groups to take action.

Every local authority in Scotland has services that meet local priorities. The voluntary sector also provides a wide range of community learning and development activity.
